Diet:
The Bald Eagle has been know to eat mostly fish. Bald Eagles live near water so it makes sense why they would prefer to eat fish. But they can also eat ducks and even other birds. Bald Eagles will also take advantage of any dead or decaying flesh of a fish. These birds do not eat domestic animals. Because of their large size, The Bald Eagle sits at the top of the food chain. A female Bald Eagle has a wing span of about 79 to 90 inches. The male Bald Eagle has a wing span of about 72 to 85 inches long. Most Bald Eagles have a lifting power of about 4 pounds. Because of their large wingspan, Bald Eagles can swoop down with incredible speed take a fish right out of the water and return to a tree not far from the water. Then they begin the process of ripping apart the meat with the talons a beak for swallowing the meat. Watch a YouTube video in the Bald Eagle killing prey section under more to see this in action.
